I am searching for a picture of the style of takedown sleeve the Big Jim , and several other bowyers are starting to use without the leather grip on? I know what they look like with the leather grip on but what does it look like togehter before the leather is added? Thanks for replies. Flint

I Dont have a pic for you but its all black and essentially ugly if the leather grip is not on it.I used a rubber roll grip on on mine so was able to check it out.

Check Black Widow's site.......I believe they have pics like what you are looking for. Also, do a search on here, as a while back someone (BowDoc...I believe) posted a link to a site that had a pdf of instructions on how to make this type of two piece takedown. It was very interesting.

Jack Harrison wrote a story in TradArchers' World magazine on converting a one-piece longbow into a takedown using a carbon sleeve. He included lots of photos. It was the 2009 Spring issue.

I've got 2 of Jack's with the new style sleeve. It actually has a small metal band to ensure it can't fail, but you can't see the band. They are very light.

When properly built, the band is not necessary.
Might be if you were converting a one piece into a two piece though.

How much weight does this system add to the bow? Thanks.
God bless,
