A tent for a blind ?
« on: March 14, 2010, 09:55:00 AM »
I was checking the price's for hunting blinds and they are extreme. So being cheep I was wondering if anyone ever used a tent and covered it with brush? If yes did you have success with it? I can get tents for $25.00 and they are 5' high and 6' wide. What do you think?   :coffee:

I was thinking the same thing. With a half decent tent you could hunt the evening and sleep in it and be there first thing in the morning.

Why not. If it is in place long enough the animals will get used to it. A few years ago Curt(Guru) posted pics of his turkey hunting stand among old abandoned cars and other junk. Made for a great blind and the turkeys probably didn't realize it was a junk yard.

As long as it's big enough, it will work. I,ve done it.  Some tent materials you can spray paint to camoflauge and it wont hurt it, Might want to do that well in advance of using it to let the smell go away.

Probably have to cut the bottom out of it.

I don't know why you'd need to cut the bottom out.  If it's for noise reduction I'd just put an old fleece blanket down, that really quiets things down.

If you have a tent that you can comfortably shoot your bow out of, go for it. I've never hunted out of one myself, but have had deer and bear in the immediate vacinity of my camp many times.

You could get a huge 20 by 30 army tent.   :biglaugh:

My dad gave me a n Ice fishing tent that I have no intentions on using on the ice. Perhaps I'll see how big it is and if it would work in the woods.
