Made myself a new hunting hat..
« on: March 16, 2010, 11:17:00 PM »
Don't laugh please!!

This is my 1st attempt to make what I think of as an authentic archers' hunting hat. I made this one out of suede leather.

Ok you can laugh.. my wife did..lol Then she said it looked like something she'd expect to see in an old Errol Flynn movie.. made my day!!

Joekeith gave me the idea. I hope he'll post a picture of his.

God bless,Mudd

Have you tried shooting with it yet?  I always have trouble with the string hitting hat bills when drawing.  I don't think the bill on your hat would work for me because of that.  I have to say though the lines of that hat have speed written all over it! Very aerodynamic!!

My merry men are typing responses to this post..lol

I went over to the HS and spoke with the home ec teacher. She and her husband to that medieval thing. Anyway, she has agreed to make me a wool tunic and vest to go with my fustian shirt.

There will not be any tights!! I do have a couple of pair of buckskin trousers/pants that should work.

I'll be sure to post pictures when I get the whole outfit together.

Thanks for the kind words.

God bless,Mudd

Truly a nice hat. I'm thinking one might be in order for myself.

Think the hat looks good!
But remember, if yer gonna do tights, they were most likely not green. In that era and part of Britain they had thing for sharp red and blue, though blue was somewhat expensive...  :)
