Dressed up some old ACME's
« on: March 17, 2010, 09:31:00 AM »

I had some "vintage" ACME shafts that were just begging to be made into arrows...so this is what I came up with. They are 80#-85#, 11/32" tapered to 5/16".

Thanks Killdeer for the nocks! I really like the way they blend into the shaft.

EXCELLENT WORK right there Snag!

Your skills are becoming really advanced - the coordination between the cresting and splicing is superb.

Enjoy shooting that set!

How's the arm?  Shootin' rehab or full strength?

Regardless, enjoy the journey!

The rehab is going well. I shot 24 arrows the other day. It was a little stiff and sore the next day. So I didn't pick up the bow for a few days. But it's coming along pretty good. Thanks.

Those look awesome. That new crester looks like it makes some perfect lines.. *I mean you make perfect lines with the new crester*
Love that color combo too. Matches my new orange cast on my leg speaking of rehab.
Too nice to shoot almost.

Good man Nocams. Got to get those chores done first!

O Okie, my mission statement is "purdier arras by all means"! Love that crester. You be a good boy and heal up so we can pack meat this fall! What a pair. One with a lame leg and one with a lame wrist....you can shoot 'em and I'll pack 'em it looks like...  :banghead:    :biglaugh:

Those are butt spliced. I just can't seem to get them to peel off the quill in one piece...? I don't know how others do it. When I try it it peels off for a ways and then it breaks off...?

I was given some of these Mercury nocks. I really like them. I guess their quality went downhill. But these were from a time when they were of good quality.

Rich, glad it is working out for you. Gets kind of under your skin, doesn't it?   ;)

Thanks, I am going to taper those blackwood footed shafts tonight. I am already thinking of some fletchings for those... oh boy....
