I hunted Solana Ranch with my Dad, my two brothers, my best friend and his Dad this past weekend. Two of us hunted with recurves, the rest more modern choices. We had a great time. Great location, great scenery, good food, lots of game and good people.
This is where we stayed:
We saw lots of these:

We did a little of this:
Most importantly we saw some of these:
On the first afternoon, I had a couple of group of pigs come in to my stand. They fed about for some time, the biggest managing to stay just out of range. A group of shooter pigs feed my way and I decided to take a shot at one of the black ones at just under 20 yards. The shot looked good and as the pig turned to run I saw my arrow hanging on by the fletching on the off side. The pig ran about 80 yards and dropped.
I was hunting with a RER Arroyo, 50 pounds at 28, drawn to 30, Trad Lite arrows with 200 grain VPA Terminators.
I hit another pig the next day, but just a little to far forward and the pig was not recovered. Lesson learned, broadside on a pig is not nearly as good as quartering away.
Had some good group pics, but left them out here as they included the more modern weapon choices.
It was a great time with family and friends and will definitely be going back.
