New (used) tipi
« on: March 17, 2010, 06:07:00 PM »
I have been using a Eureka family style tent for several years and have just moved up to some serious old school canvas... 21' tipi. I have a liner, floor, door and other goodies with it but just wanted to have a look and get a feel for set up. I think this is going to suite my nomadic "have bow will travel" lifestyle.

Anyone other TG's using these for travel and hunt?

Real nice Shaun. Couple of questions. Can You haul it in a pickup? and can You set it up by Yourself?

Thanks,

A little bulky to transport, but nice.
I prefer my 16man Kifaru for basecamp though.

Shaun, we had a teepee at my family farm for about 10-15 years while growing up. As kids, we spent more time in it than in the house. Cool in the summer, warm in the winter...5000 years of design is hard to dispute. Suits you perfectly brother. I know a few places you can pitch it when you come back down this way    :readit:

Congratulations, beautiful setup you've got there.

Shaun, You are the man! That tipi looks fantastic. I have never used or even been in one. How is it for keeping dry? warm? Enough room inside? Cool to see your house too. Nice Pics. Thanks for sharing.

Looks like you got the setting up part figured out quick.      I have a tipi for my 'puter wallpaper. I like yours better.

They are nice. Some people set them up at some of the traditional shoots I go to.They`re pretty cool. And with that liner,it keeps it cool inside when it`s hot outside.I know you`ll injoy it.

My only experience with one was a visit to a guys unit during a muzzleloader hunt. It was real smoky and you had to hug the floor to breath. Something about living in a chimney didnt realy work for me. I'm sure it was a lack of operational skills, but its all I've got.

Shaun, very nice. I have camped a few times in one and loved having the open fire going. The downside to me is the long ploes and takes a bit longer to set-up for short trips. But for a long week it is the way to go, room to get up and move around and nice and dry. Thanks for sharing the pictures. Flint

I have an 18'er.  We love it. I takes a rack on the truck to haul the poles and I can set mine up by myself.

Nice. I have wanted one for a long time...I'll get one some day. Who's the manufacture? Nomadics? Panther primitives? White Buffalo?
