Vapor Hunter .500 and 51# draw
« on: March 24, 2010, 09:08:00 PM »
I have these arrows for my kids 35 lb. target bow. I was wondering if there was anyway to make them heavy/strong enough for my 51# Jaguar Takedown which requires 8gpp? Considering spine and weight. I guess what I'm saying is, I need to get them to 408gr. Is there an insert or something that would work, or would it be too top heavy or under-spined at .500?

GoldTip Vapor Hunter, .500 carbon,  29”,  6.3 gr/in, 50 lb. max. draw weight, 100 gr. field point. wgt ~314.10 gr. 35 lb. draw 8.97 gpp. 40 lb. draw 7.85 gpp. FOC: 13.75%.

I posted this on another thread for you Frank but it got pulled for some reason.

I use the GT Ultralight Entrada 500 for my wife's 40 lb. and my son's 53 lb. bows.

The entrada is also 6.3 gr/in.

Below is the setup that works for the 53 lb bow that I am hunting turkeys with now:

Cut to 28 7/8"
100 gr. brass insert
320 gr. Grizzly
 25 gr. 2117 aluminum footing
3 - 4 in. feathers

645 grains and 34% FOC

The bow is a semi-recurve with a longbow style rest.

I think the arrow you have will work fine.

Excellent! I missed this on the other post where I started a similar discussion. I figured if I worded it differently, I might get rewarded. Sometimes, as in email, it's tough to get your point across. Thanks!
