How about sharing your pattern? I'd try yours since mine are all low tops.
Thanks in advance.

I am right there with you. It has always been a dream of mine to hunt in Mocs, tho my dream also includes homemade self bow and arrows with point i've knapped, but thats another story.

I dont think they look ugly, just "rough", you just need to learn about stitching and leather craft a bit more. As long as you're happy with them and you'll actually wear them to hunt, then you're halfway to your goal.
Its all Gary Paulsen's fault, he got me dreaming about a bent stick and string.

They look just like a pair I made when I was in high school.  Mine didn't last very long.  The stitching stretched and my toes poked through. Actually, now that I think about it, you're look 100 times better than mine.

I think they are pretty cool but if i hunted with those things on my feet where i hunt my feet would be wet 2 minutes into the hunt.

here ya go Mudd, and anyone else that wants it.  I tried to scan it, but the page was too big, and it just didnt work, so you get a picture, lol.  The grid is to scale, and each block is 1".  I am a size 15!

One thing I left out before as well is that the leather is chrome tanned with a vegitable dye on top(vegitable tan without the salt).  You guys cant see it, and neither can I really for that matter, but I pulled the hide out a bit early and it was swirly brown with the green chrome hide in blotches.  Which I thought was gonna be like a cool camo type dye.  But when I oiled it it basically all turned brown!

There are things I would definatly change!  I would make the end of the slopes on the back peice a point.  Make the back a couple inches wider, so that it wraps around the front a bit more.  It does that now, when I lace them tight to my leg, but I would like it to overlap a bit more.

right now I just have the stitch around the front toes, but I am eventually going to use the lace and go around in the opposite direction of the B-50 stitching.  I think?  Other than that it is perfect . . .

O if you do use leather with fur, make sure you pay attention the direction you cut  :knothead: , it is common sense, but I was too dumb to think about it.  So on the one moc the hair is sticking up instead of nice and sloped down like the other one.  Definatly not a big deal, but it kinda bugs me!

You say your a 15. If I counted correctly there are 12 squares from end to end. Is that what works for a size 15? I am a size 12.

Thanks again.

yup 12 squares, but actually the slippers I am wearing now say 13, my current shoes are 15, but they are cut weird.  I would actually feel more faithful in the slippers.  My boots are 14's, lol.  So I really havent got a clue.  Either way, definatly 12 squares fits my foot like a glove!

Chris, nice job.  Be careful in them in mud.  You will bust your butt.

Here's a tip for the next pair.  I use artificial sinew to sew them that you can get from many suppliers including Tandy.  Make your pattern big enough so you sew the moccassin inside out.  I use a welt (strip of leather between the pieces that protects the stitching) also.  Then when you reverse it you have a neat seam and you can't see the stitching.

I'd be glad to post a pic or two but I didn't want to hijack your post or I could PM you pics.

Well I really wanted some sinew, but I litterally have 0 dollars in my account!  So I just used b-50, poor boys gotta use what they can.

I sewed the bottom seem from the inside, but I purposly sewed the top of tht front from the outside, because that is the way I see mocs generally.  But I defiantly think now I would rather the seam be on the inside.

Please please go ahead and post some.  I use this cite to learn thing!!!  And you have the knowledge, so feel free to share!!!  :archer:
