My first hidden tang knife
« on: April 26, 2007, 07:36:00 PM »
I had a hidden tang knife blade laying around. It is 420 stainless steel and now that I got my hands on some elk antler, I could not wait to make this knife.

excellent job. that is one fine looking knife. How did you treat/polish the antler to get it to look like that??

Your very kind for offer to purchase this knife Kinstaken but I have never sold a knife that I have made. I may at some point.

rxhntr, This antler was naturally brown I just sanded it down to expose some of the white. I then gave it a spray of lacquer.

Very Nice!  Would you mind sharing the steps to make and install the brass cap on the end of the handle?  Again, nice work.

Aggie1003, I used two brass pins. I drilled two holes in the brass end cap and two in the back of the antler base, It is all held together with an industrial epoxy with a holding strength of 3500 psi.
