Hello everyone ! I'm new here but not new to traditional archery . I am , however, a bit rusty . I have been shooting a recurve on and off since I was 16 , and I'm 45 now . I worked in a archery shop for 4 years here in my home town and competed on the traditional leauges and in the national dart target tournaments .I had to get out of it and sold my Quillian Patriot bow in 2001 ,now I would like to get back into it and I'm looking around for a new bow . This is where I need a little help. I am interested in 3 different bows , the Quillian canebreak , the Damon Howatt Hunter or the Martin-Howatt Hunter . There is no place within a 4 or 5 hour drive to try them out  , so I'm hoping that some of you have had some experiance with 1 or all of these bows . Any input on how they preform , as far as , are they quick? , do they stack up on the draw ( I have a 29.5 in draw ) ,and so on . Any info I could get would be greatly appreciated !!! Thank you .

Hello Robert.

Thats a long draw.I think all those bows are 62 inches long.Good length for you. They do have have longer risers and shorter working limbs. Its possible you could have some stack issues?

The only way to know for sure is to scale the bow from say 28.5  to 29.5 and see how much it gains. It may or may not stack.

Those areall fast shooting bow in my experience.

If possible you may see if thiers a Jays Sporting goods store somewhere with in driving distance of Boyne city? They always have some traditional bows and used bows as well of good quaility. They may have a Hunter or Quillian to try.

I would urge you to go to the Compton shoot in Barrien Springs in mid June to try alot of bows. Its in S.W MI.Thier are alot of venders thier and also used bows for sale and they also have a trading blanket.Where individuals sale and trade bows on Sat afternoon.

The classifieds adds here are always a good place to find a used bow reasonably priced.

Your welcome to come shoot some of my bows if your in S.E MI. and want to stop buy and wear a few out.

Thier are also alot! of bowyers in MI.Possibly one or 2 or 3 near you that you could visit. The Sponser Classifieds section here on T-gang is a great place to scout some bows out and you will see some that are made in MI thier as well.

Good luck!

A Damon Howatt Hunter is going to be a hard bow to beat.  Stable and fast shooter, not to mention handsome.

I have had both of those recurves and both are fine recurves and both are 62" AMO.They will handle your draw length just fine.It might be easier to find the Martin/Howatt Hunter, there are more of them around.I think they are a great shooting recurve.
