Thanks Mike. I'm getting some PM's that are suggesting the same thing.    :D   But, if I skin these limbs, I can always get a set that's not skinned for back up.

Are the Copperheads just hard to get a hold of?

Shoooooooooooooooot.....

Once it warms up we'll be crawlin' in " 'heads n 'mouths".  (copperheads and cottonmouths/water moccasins) The markings on cottonmouths varies a bit. Some I've seen would make a neat limb skin...it might be hard to get a pair of matching "cool" ones though.

Where do you send skins to have them prepped/tanned or whatever you call it to be put on bows?

Cottonmouth are easy to find good matching patterns.  To prep a skin skin the snake wash with water and pin him to a board scale side down let dry. Do not put anything on it just air dry.  Remove from board trim curled belly skin and send to Bob. Let him do the magic.

I'd say go with the canebrakes. You'll be waiting a while for copperheads.I wanted them on my Schafer but no one seems to have them. But if that's what you want start a search and don't settle.I think I might go the eastern diamondback route.

I'm liking the Canebrake. KentuckyTJ photo shopped a picture of his Canebrake limb on my pic and it really set off the gray in the riser and side of limbs.

Any other skin types that might look good?

I think the Cane Break looked the best for your bow colors.

Doug, you need to sand those things off there and redo it. Hehe.

I'm not big on skins but the red in the skins and the bow give this a beautiful unique look, very nice.

:scared:

Heck no, Tom! Seems as though my copperhead skins may be just about extinct!

Really though, I've always liked timber rattler(canebrake) skins very well too. When it comes to diamondbacks, I like the eastern better than the western. Also, don't forget about the exotic, non-native species. I really love the pattern of the "Gaboon Viper". IMO, the most beautiful snake in the world. Do a Google search on it and you'll see what I mean. Only problem is, I bet they would be almost impossible to get. Boa Constrictor skin is very attractive as well, and probably not very difficult to obtain either.

Well, looks like Bob Morrison is about to limit his skinning. Any other reputable skinners that I can go to if I don't get it in before Bob slows down?

Sergio: That is a sweet looking bow there. What are the skins on it?
