Larry, that is pretty intuitive.  Nice strategy, you thought more about that than some people think about deer hunting.  I bet you have shot your fair share of game.

Talk about a wolf in sheeps clothing (hook with wool)... who would have thought that carp ate sheep.

They are being used to help clear lakes of hydrilla - something like kudzu of the water.  The stuff is insidious!

Carp, "it's the other white meat."

Carp is actually a delicacy in Europe.  While it is has a negative stigma here, it is very good when prepared properly.  Makes for great archery sport too.

We also use carp meat for trapping snapping turtles.

Today at 6:00 PM (Daylight Savings Time) is the cut off for the "Carpathon" event. Terry Green has agreed to help pick a winner and I'm now waiting on Lonnie Sneed to see if he can help. (I sent him a PM only a little while ago.) If he's not available, my wife will be on standby to help.

Each judge will pick three candidates. Whoever shows up the most on the lists will be the winner. If there is a draw then the judges will revote. Hopefully we will have a winner by 7:00PM today.

Thanks to everyone for participating. I hope that everyone learned something about carp that they hadn't known before. I learned several things that I didn't before.

Well, it's time to announce the winner. Gordy and Joker, you made the short list on two of the three list. However, Dakota Kid made all three list. Congratulations on your brief but well written tribute about a little sucker that is not always understood.

Dakota Kid, let me know which one that you want and your mailing address. I'll mail it out promptly.

Late but have a good carp story. When i was about 12 i used to ride my bike to the home town park it had a large pond almost lake size and i would fish, well making my way along the bank one day i met this old very heavy set woman with a old beat up straw hat. (No disrespect ment with the discreption of the lady just try to paint a picture) She was fishing for carp. I asked some questions about why you would try to catch such nasty fish. Well that question turned into about 4 months of weekends fishing together and a lot of advice on how to prepair carp to eat. We grew to be fishing buds. We would catch a few carp here and there, i would give her mine of course. One saterday we were sitting there talking about this that and the other thing and her poll started to sing like crazy and then just launched from the fork stick stand and into the lake she started screaming MY POLL MY POLL, i took one jump and head first into the pond i was under water fealing around with my hands, came up for air two or three times and the about 30 feet from the bank i went to the bottom just landed on the reel it was wedged between two rocks, i came up made my way back to the bank and handed her the poll. She then proceeded to fight and land one of the biggest carps i have ever seen in my life. She gave me a big hug and a kiss on the forehead loaded up her car and that was the last time i saw her. To this day
( Im 50 now) i still remember those 4 months with my old granny fishing bud as if they were yesterday.
