That's also a good looking bow, what is it and what the specs?

Very cool thread, Pete.   :clapper:   I think it would be awesome to pack that old treestand out, rebuild it and hang it in your man cave (if you have one) for a conversation piece.

What an awsom adventure, you are right, listen to the oldtimers.
We will all be oldtimers at some time in our lives, how well people listen, will be determined by how well we pass it on.
Congratulations

Fantastic read.  Looking at those pictures reminds me that we are always following in someones footsteps.  Give the respect they deserve, you may just get turned onto a few secrets.  Remember we owe it the past generations who kept this alive for us to  in turn keep it alive and pass it on to the next generation.

Man Im giddy with excitment for you this fall

I reviset a stand every year while shed hunting that sits in an old oak.  Its where my " OLD TIMER " took his first deer with his bow.  Im unable to hunt there but enjoy standing under it and remembering the hunts I had out of it while he pationtly showed me the ropes of our beloved sport.

I shur do miss him   :campfire:     :coffee:

Great story and followup pics!!!

You've now followed a path in the shadows of experience.  I for one am going to have a difficult time waiting for this fall for this story to continue.

Given the size of those rubs (and knowing how big those deer are in that part of the country), you might need to take a canoe into there in the fall......you KNOW you are coming out with a big one!

Best of luck this season and enjoy this gift you've been given.  Also, we will haunt you if you do not continue this saga!  :campfire:
