First of all, I'm a a believer in "if it ain't broke don't fix it", but I want to understand this better...
I have a ferguson longbow, 58#@28", which would mean approximately 52#@ 26" I'm guessing.
I also have my RER XR, 49# @ 26" (built to 26").
I am shooting AD Trad Lites out of them both, with 100 grain brass inserts.
With the longbow, 125 gr heads fly well for a total arrow weight of about 550 gr. With the recurve, 175 - 200 fly the best for a total arrow weight of 600-625 gr
It doesn't add up to me for some reason that the recurve at only 3 lbs lighter would need that much weaker spined arrow than the longbow..? The recurve is center cut, and shoots much faster than the longbow.
I'm not going to change anything, but for my own sanity, what am I missing? I know different bows like different arrows, but the math isn't adding up for me.
Laugh at the dumb guy, then tell me what I'm missing, please!
