Moccasins on the Ground

Does anyone use moccasins for still hunting and stalking whitetails? Any success? And where is a good place to get a pair?
Thanks!

Have used them have not killed anything while wearing them. I really like my Russell mocs fit like a glove for the foot. Overall great.
Seconds would be my Dyers not a custom fit but very durable over the years.

Love my Carl Dyers. Have used them in all but the Antelope country. Way too may Cacti out in the grasslands. But in the woods love um. Make me slow down so as not to bust my butt on the slopes. Move slower and quieter see more game win-win.

Yep, I have a pair that I like to use on fairly flat ground. They are very thick moose hide, and they are quiet. A good choice for warm weather and flat country.

I have a nice custom pair size 10 or 11 for winter hunting I have been thinking about selling. Good for silent hunting.

Mocs are ok if it is dry but step on a wet slope and goodby, you will slide. Not very good for traction. As said, for flat ground they are good but not on slopes, even the morning dew will make it too wet to hold your footing on a slope.

Agreed Danny, I only use mine casually, I'd hate to hunt in them here in TN or worse, a rocky climate, you'd get stone sore very fast. They are comfy though.

I have always wanted to try using them for hunting. The only problem is in Illinois we have the darn Honey locust trees with 1" to 5" inch thorns, needle sharp. They have even gone through the soles and sides of hunting boots.

One of the better commercial moccasins is made by Dyer. Very heavy leather and would last a lifetime if used on dirt, grass and leaves only. No concrete.
