Raw Meat!!
«
on:
April 07, 2010, 09:11:00 AM »
Ok, just recently the fleshy area between my thumb and index finger is being rub raw by contact from my fletching! I have big hands so I know that has a little to do with it but this was not happening before. I was forced to change the velcro on my arrow rest as it fell of during a pig hunt (mucho rain)! I am shooting an A&H ACS long bow 64" 53# @ 28" brace height 7 1/4. Thanks!!

You can always glue on a piece of leather under the velcro on the shelf to give you a little more clearance.
Dustin's recommendation will probably get you there though.

If the shelf material was a different thickness than before, you will have to adjust your nock point.

maybe you should try switching to left wing feathers, or vise versa.

As Dustin and JC suggested, raise the sting nock. The Velcro is fairly thick and would give the same results as it being nocked too low.

Dustin: I am shooting 4"/4 fletch! I am running out of fletch positions as they say! LOL!
I have 2 small 1/4" cuts on the top of my left hand.
JC: Yes the Velcro is the same thickness as I used before. Maybe a little thinner but not by much!
Coaster500: Try Tape? How do you think I have been shooting the last few days. Duct tape is a wonderful thing!
I guess I am going to put a small piece of leather under the Velcro and see what happens!

Cock feather in? I recently switched to shooting like this after watching masters of the bare bow. That is of course as long as your shooting with it out now

I like lpcjon2's idea, a hand transplant-from your hand to mine. You would have no more feather cuts!!

I got Bear hair on mine. It is a little thicker. The fletch still hits my hand occasionally but I have pretty big fletch. My bow is Acs Cx 64 inch, 55 @28. I pull it to 30inches. Gary

Check your elbow position on your drawing hand. make sure your alignment is good that may help. if nothing else has changed mechaniclly it sounds like a form issue.
I have a recurve that touches my hand as well. Never really have figured out why but it shoots good ha ha.

My 4x90 fletchings cut me, too. Not the 3x120, though. Same shaft, same length, same weights, same everything except feathers.

See, I am not the only one with racing track marks on my hand!! I guess you have to man-up as they say to shoot the ACS longbows!
FerretWYO! Randy, I was told I had near perfect form! And if you believe that I have some nice beach front property for sale in Wyoming for ya! LOL!
