Me, a Jake and a Tom...Longbow Turkey!
« on: April 28, 2007, 10:09:00 AM »
This am Jake and i went out to the set-up that I set the day before and for once, everything went according to plan!!
Opening day I had a shotgunner shoot the bird that was coming in to my set-up...maddening to say the least.
This am the gobblers were sounding off early and after flydown they came right thru the hole in the fence that you can see just past the pic of the decoys.
The tom came in, saw the jake( not the one sitting with me in the blind..    ;)  )and came over to strut and give him the what-for    :goldtooth:    .
I waited for the shot, took it and the arrow  screamed thru him without slowing down!
He walked a bit and he was done.
no running away, no flying, just real slow gimpy walking.
My Mississippi Lake Longbow and a heavy ash arrow did the trick.
It is my 1st bird.
Next up it's Jake's turn( my buddy, not the bird that is..)

Cool stuff, congratulations on a fine bird. I hope Jake(not the bird) gets one soon.

Awesome Bird Cary, especially considering the bad luck the other day, having  a Bird shot out almost from under you!
