I too dig the Kromer.  Bought this one from Ron E'Claire at Compton's the first year he sold the short brim one's there.  It's about worn out now (falling apart) and Kromer discontinued the short brims  :( .

My new hat has worked out well so far.  This was the very first time I wore it in the woods.  Picked it up in Strasbourg, France when over there visiting my in-laws.  Wool tweed, insulated, with crafty fold down ear flaps.  Short brim that doesn't interfere with my bowstring, and I can pass for an Old Fart if the light is right.....

Ryan, I have one like that but I can't pass for an old fart ,cause I am an old fart no matter what the light is.

I love the way it looks but the brim is too big. inflexible and  it's way too heavy.

Is that a Barma? Looks good, but I see what ya mean about the brim.

I don't have a clue as to what it is, I found it in a garage sale. I liked it and it was 2 bucks. I've been wearing it ever since.

Maybe you'd like a Stetson snowden model. It's crushable wool with only a 3" brim.

LOL - you know, it's hard (for me) to take a self close-up, and smile at the same time (kinda like walkin' and chewin' gum at the same time). I tried about six, and deleted the others.

Anyway I wear my "Avatar Hat" for everything  except  hunting, the buttons/pins would catch in the brush and perhaps reflect light flashes. I found this (cheap one) in WalMart over 8-10 years ago, love it and have never seen another like it (for back-up), darn it. It is net under the cutout leafs and great for aeration during the early season here. When the weather gets colder I put on a watch cap (toboggan) under the hat and pull the watch cap down over my ears and back of my neck to keep the wind off. I also put on a face net after I get in the tree or on stand, hot or cold. Brim is compleatly flexible, BTW.

Warning: Don't let the kiddies see these pics - I don't want to scare the poor little dears -   :scared:
