installing trade points
« on: April 10, 2010, 12:39:00 PM »
just got some trade points from 3 rivers to try out, and was wondering if anyone can give me some tips on intalling them.my main concern is how to make sure theyre on straight, ive thought about spin testing but if they dont spin straight then do i use paper wedges to adjust? any help will be greatly appreciated.

When I mount a trade point I cut a single band saw cut and center it and open it with sand paper. I use pitch glue and sinew for mounting. I do a spin test and if adjustment is needed I heat the blade a little, straighten it and spin again.

im in heath/newark, just moved here about 7-8 months ago and still learning my way around, lol. in the process right now of finding places to harvest wild rose and river cane, sadly the only place ive seen rc so far was on the freeway up to columbus airport where theres no stopping allowed.

If the arrow spins true on it's point it should shoot well. Many of my cane and hardwood shoot arrows are far from "arrow" straight but they all spin true and fly true.
