Pronghorn bow pics (Question on page 2)
« on: April 11, 2010, 02:43:00 PM »
Can those of you that own a 3 piece pronghorn please post some pics of your bow for me. According to Herb's website he prefers to use dymondwood or impregnated dymondwood in his risers, will he also make them out of say ziricote or macassar ebony? Thanks.

Yes it is, the limbs red elm, 62" 58#@28" and as you can see in the picture Last fall she wasn't picky about arrow material either. But now I got her trained on wood alone.

Here's mine: brown Dymondwood riser, red elm limbs, 58", 54 lb @ 26".  Excellent bow, I like it a lot.

Here's mine. Dymondwood and red elm.

When I had a bow custom made by Herb, I asked him to recommend the wood the he would use in the limbs of his own bow. He said red elm, so that's what I ordered.

Thanks for the pics guys.  I have a question about the grip on Herb's t/d bows. Do you find it to be comfortable and does it provide for a consistent grip shot after shot ? Thanks again.

I've found Herbs grip to be the most forgiving grip I've ever had in my hand. I'm sure it has to do with the bow design as well but I can grip my Pronghorn as hard or as light as I want with no ill effect on arrow flight. I find Pronghorns to be very easy to shoot and once you get use to the grip you'll love it. I also shoot Thunderhorns a lot and the 3pc Thunderhorn is very similar to the Pronghorn with some added performance.

Herb makes a great easy to repeat grip.  He put a little extra palm swell in mine and it fits my hand very well.

Give him a call, he has a method of using glass to back the riser so you have more options than the Dymondwood. I love the grip on mine...PR

THe grip is very comfortable for me but Herb will make it with a deeper dish if you like...just tell him its what you want and he'll take care of it...they are great bows... I also have the cocobolo dyamond wood...it has amberboo limbs
