Fletching her first arrows!
« on: April 12, 2010, 12:26:00 AM »
I bought my Girlfriend new arrows this week and fletched a few for her. Tonight she begged me to show her how to do it herself. She did one and it came out pretty good. The next one she said she wanted to splice. She saw a 2 minute video clip on how to do it at a hunting and fishing show in Feb and has wanted to do it ever since. I told her I wasn't sure how it would come out as I have never done it before and this was only her second arrow. She decide to go ahead and try anyway......and it came out great! Now she wants more arrows and to start doing mine to see how fancy she can get. She is also talking about buying a cresting jig! I can't wait!

Here are her first 2 attempts at fletching arrows!

How very cool is this? Way!

Man oh man! What I wouldn't give if anybody at my house would enjoy building an arrow. They wouldn't even have to look as good as your girlfriends', just build some arrows..lol

Those young men that have been spending hour upon hour here at my house shooting have stacked a bunch of broken nocks, torn off feathers and worst of all broken shafts. The supply of shooting stock is dwindling fast. It's a good thing I found a dozen I could afford on an auction site. They will hopefully be here soon.

Anyway, congratulations to the both of you. Now turn her loose and let her go to making as many as her heart desires.

God bless,Mudd

I don't hate building arrows nearly as much as Mudd but I would love to get my Bride to fletch mine especially if she done that good so I wouldn't have to.

You are a lucky man indeed.  Enjoy sharing a common interest.

My wife also is involved with arrow fletching...especially the placement of my equipment when I leave it on the dining room table.

Hey Greg,

She did a great job! My favorite gal is very much into archery and bowhunting too.

As much as I love hunting with my bow, hunting with the gal I share my life with makes it even more wonderful. When we started dating 15 years ago, she was a very outdoorsey gal to begin with. She grew up on a farm in Texas and had always hunted. I explained right off how much I hunted and fished and would love for her to come along, otherwise she wouldn't see me much.

Fifteen years later, we hardley ever hunt or fish alone. She takes care of herself, "baits her own hook" so to speak. We have so much fun together it's ridiculus! I can't even imagine enjoying an outing without her.

Work-a-day life keeps us apart more often than not, but weekends and hunting/fishing/camping trips are all ours.

Enjoy the relationship and all that it brings. Bonus that you have an archery intrest in common.

OkKeith

If your is anythign like mine you done made a big mistake...Id suggest you go look at your collection.

Over the fall my GF wanted to fletch her new arrows so I showed her how to do one then she took over and under my supervision she did 6 perfectly.  Actually she did them better then mine then we went and shot.

Well the next day i came home from work and I had 3 dozen mixed arrows fletched the same way by her....she said she wanted to make them all pretty and the same.  Oh man it broke my heart to cut every darn feather off LOL but they weren't my arrows just bareshafts from friends LOL.
