A Mohawk Strikes
« on: April 16, 2010, 02:30:00 PM »
Bentpole was so very nice to me and sent me a bow to shoot. It is his Mohawk 62" and 52@28 inches.

No, it's not for sale or trade he was just sharing with me what he thinks of as one of the best shooting bows out there. I  can find very little reason to disagree with him or anyone who believes the same.

I knew I had to finish mowing the grass this morning as rain was on its way but I found out that I had a bow at the P.O. so I delayed mowing until I could go pick up the bow.

I got it home and strung up(more delay) and couldn't resist shooting it. I selected 3 arrows that were matched and shot three ends of three arrows each. One at around 10 yds, one at around 17 yds and one at around 28 yds.

I decided that the 1st 3 arrows were really good  but I told myself "I'm awfully close to the target" then I shot the second end, then after getting the same results at that yardage I moved back to my last yardage. Here are the results and they look almost identical to the other two ends.

God bless,Mudd

PS Thank you very much Tom! I take good care of her and send her home when I'm finished playing.

BTW: I ended up getting a little wet and cold which doesn't help a sinus infection but the grass is cut!..lol

I would say that the shooter also has something to do with that group.

Nice shootin Mudd! Spend a lot of money on new nocks do ya??  :)

Yep, those Mohawks are nice shooting bows. I've shot a number of them at RMSGear in Denver. Vince is a Colorado Bowyer. The ones I've shot have had full bamboo limbs and have a real nice feel to them.

Mudd, if you don't have one in your stable, is it time?

ColLongbow, I can't say I disagree with you but I need to be patient and save some pennies up before that can happen.

As soon as the rain quits I'm going back out with it and drill a few more holes. The way it shoots I may be back in the house doing nock repair work.. man! I hate building arrows!!

If I were Bentpole I'd be worried about getting my bow back anytime soon.

Mudd, I'm going to be honest right up front.
I don't have a bow that will shoot those groups from the 10 yard spot. Not with me in the drivers seat. Very nice shooting.
You've just encoraged me to start working harder on my form.

Great shooting.  I have never shot one.  How does it compare to your MOAB?  That would give me some reference.

Very similar in feel and point-ability. I might feel the bow a tad more than the MOAB but not enough to even speak of.

Later this evening I went back out and shot it for about an hour. It's easy to shoot.

It made me real curious so I took it in and got out the 62" 54@28 MOAB and one arrow,...
 my turkey arrow....
I wouldn't want to be the turkey...lol

If I can get close enough Monday morning I should have something to show for my effort.

I'll try to get my wife to get some pictures of the Mohawk being shot tomorrow.

God bless,Mudd
