ok here it goes boys, it was a clear high press. day on that early morn in nov.got settled in my stand well before the sun came up, wind was outa the west and perfect for my hide, put my coat on pulled back my predator recurve back to loosen my muscles up. The day was mostly quite and i was taking in the scenery one of those days when you had feeling to stay put and wait it out. around 10am a doe ran underneth my stand, wake up call, but nothing on her trail. about 45min later i heard that distinctive crunch crunch in the leafs, as i looked up a doe was commin down the trail right where i exspected the shot, all the sudden she vered off the trail right under my stand all this time i had my recurve at the ready. she stopped at about 10 yards in front of my stand then i heard the sound comming from the same direction she had come, now mind you i have a doe starring me down at 10 yards and the biggest buck comming down the same trail. outa the corner of my eye i seen him nose to the ground comming on a string. so he comes within fifteen yards and stares at the doe staring at me my heart was about to jump outta my chest the only thing that was moving was my chest and my eyes so i decide to pick a spot on that big boy and thought when the doe busts out im going to shoot pateince payed off, what seemed about an hour the doe decided i wasnt a threat and walked off.i knew it was now or never as the buck turned quartered i let a wensal tipped cedar shaft loose I followed thru but heard a loud TINK keeping the buck in my vision he jumped and whirled breaking the shaft off as he did liver i thought he walked off like he was hurting bad watched him until he disapeared into the brush. waited at least 4 hour until i got down outa my stand upon examination of blood it was liver, blood was everywhere, about 80 yards later i found him pilled up behind a tree what a magnificent animal i thought and said a prayer for the wild things i sat there for several hours remembering the life i had just taken for he was a true king of the woods! That tink was my bottom limb tip hitting my treestand and the scar on that limb tip will always remind me of that king of the forest i took on a special nov. day. Jonesy,
