Sleepingbear, when shooting 3under the arrow does not have to be closer to your eye. 3under just allows you to have it closer but you don't have to. If you've had plastic nocks exploding you might want to get different nocks or inspect them if your arrows are hitting each other. The only other thing I could think of is possibly your nocks are too tight so they're under too much pressure. They'd have to be pretty tight though to cause any weakness or fractures.

Split finger for me- three under seems to work well for people using it but seems very strange to me.

being new to the trad world I copied what I saw on tv which was split finger. I was a little frustrated due to shooting all over the place with split finger, but I thought it was just part of the learning process. Then I heard of 3 under and tried it. It was a real confidence booster :D , been shooting 3under ever since

I can understand the benefit for 3 under but split just seems more natural plus I cannot get my bow as quiet 3 under as I can with split finger shooting
