I filled my Iowa turkey tag very early Friday morning, so that has allowed me some time for relaxing and visiting.

Yesterday I stopped in to visit Brian Wessel at the TallTines shop.  He had a BUNCH of bows ready to spray.  I snapped a couple shots for you guys to see if yours was in the que:

The bow on the left is a Charcoal Dymondwood riser with Redheart limbs.

Next to the right is all Bocote.

Next to the right is a Cocobolo riser with limbs waiting for Canebrake skins.

The bow on the far right is an all phenolic riser with Black Limba limbs.

The bow on the bottom is Charcoal Dymondwood with the same Black Limba veneers.  That bow has Kudu horn tips and I really wish I would have gotten a close up of them as they are stunning.  I don't know what part of the horn they came from, but they are a translucent grey that reminded me of looking into a lake you wanted to dive into!

Thanks Steve,it was quite a few time that we ain't seen any post from Brian and nobody bragging for their new bows.

Hey Steve,  I was over there at the end of March.  I hear we almost went turkey hunting to KS together.  You missed a good time except for me locking two sets of keys in the car.

I'm not putting up with this guys shit and dogging me.

Curt--not much I can say here--I'll send you a note later in the week when I have a little more time.

Todd, we will have to compare notes, I am heading to Kansas shortly to try to get a couple toms.  I have my camo TallTines ready for action there!

Felix--Poor Brian is working himself to death trying to keep everybody happy with delivery times!  He's working today and can't even get any turkey hunting in.  He doesn't have time to post much.

Here are some risers ready for overlays, inlays, and other custome touches:

That lefty on the left I know is Alan Shafer's Zircote riser--it had his name on it    :D

From there left to right are:

Charcoal Dymondwood
Zircote/Bocote
Kingwood
Bocote/Zircote
Zircote
Solid Phenolic

Before I head off the visit "Godfater" Wensel, if anybody has a TallTines on order and hasn't picked out their woods yet:

On the left is a gorgeous pice of Brown Cocobolo--much more rare than the typical red stuff.  And that stunning piece of Myrtle is flanked by some highly figured Bocote.

Those would be my picks...

Froggy

The Phenolic w/ Black Limba limbs would be Bob "Texas Ranger" Walker's bow I do believe.

Beautiful bows...any word on when Brian might offer longbow limbs?  i know he is swamped right now with recurve orders and probably doesn't need the extra headache from us longbow guys!   :D

Thanks for posting Steve! A TT has become a NEED for me. Tell Brian to take some time for hunting, it's the fact that he's a hunter that makes him such a good Bowyer.

owlbait

Will Brian be at Compton's? I would like to see and shoot one of his base models if he gets there.

Thanks for posting Steve, I hope the Bocote is 62"60@28

Dirtybird

Thanks Steve and congrats on the turkey.  I hope your hunt in Kansas goes just as well.  Brian was a pleasure to chat with at the PBS and I hope he doesn't burn himself out by working too much.

Tim Fishell

Man I really cannot wait for mine.  Looks like Brian has been really really busy!!  Congrats on the bird Steve!

Yes stykshooter, that bocote is 62" and 60# @ 28".  Spraying it along with some others up this afternoon and then taking the girls crappie fishing.

Dan White

Good looking bows, I believe I saw all of these a couple of weekends ago. The black/red stripped riser with red limbs is for firemans benefit auction if I remember correctly.

talltines

Hey Dan, that was last Saturday when you stopped up.  Good to see you.  Yes, that bow is being auctioned next week for the Fallen Firefighters Foundation.  Btw, that was a great looking knife that you made!

rastaman -- Yes, I want bothered by the longbow guys!  I'm very close to where I want the design to be.  My goal right now is to get my recurve orders filled and in waiting hands.  Once I'm where I need to be with my recurve orders, I'll bring the longbow out of the darkness.  I plan on having a booth at Denton Hill.  I'll have 3 piece curves, 3 piece longbows, and 1 piece curves there.  Thanks to everyone for your patience with my build time.  Trust me, nobody wants these bows in your hands more than me.

Herdbull

Thanks Steve. There is a piece of bloodwood at Gene's or Barry's that should go to Brian's if that works out, but I don't think you are heading back over on your way home.
Brian, My TT is shooting well. I'm getting ready for bear quest. Mike
