I've got a couple vintage recurves with 35 yr. old masking, electrical and adhesive tape residue on them. Whats the best way/solvent to remove w/o damaging finish?

Thanks but tried it. Goo-still-there. I'm thinking lighter fluid or paint thinner but not sure about damage.

Yup…different adhesives kind of defies any one “best” answer. I will use some of the other alteratives mentioned, but typically I grab the De-Solv-it I keep under the sink…with a high percentage of success. Good Luck, Rick.

Try the WD-40. Another product I have had some success with is wax and grease remover which is sold in auto supply stores. Very carefully use a utility knife blade as a scraper by holding it 90 degrees to the surface.
I would stay away from solvents that could damage the glue.
Good luck, uncovering hidden beauty is the fun part!

Goo-Gone or WD40 and a plastic scraper made from a credit card. Haven't found a residue yet that wont come off. Let it soak a little while. Be careful with solvents unless you want to refinish. Goof Off is pretty harsh stuff.
