all trad season
« on: April 24, 2010, 07:01:00 AM »
Am leaving in a few minuets for my first turkey hunt of the year. This year it will be all traditional or nothing. Have a brush pile in back of me and some burlap stretched in front. Been like this since last fall deer hunting. Misty rain this morning. No wind. Here's hoping.

Thanks guys    Turkeys 1  Jim 0   My blind had settleed a little since I checked it a few weeks ago.Was not as hidden as I like. Heard a bird a long way off so I tried to call him. IT WORKED!! He gobbled I answered. This went on for awhile. He shut up and so did I. I saw him out of the corner of my eye. His head went behind a tree, or so I thought. I started to move my bow to ready position, tip moved just a little. That was enough. He turned and was gone clucking all the way. He was within about 30yds. Think I will try again tomorrow.

Metal is way to noisy. If you change barrels on me they will think someone else is there and not come in. Remember need a big soft seat. Or a ground blind. I am getting old and need my comfort.   Jim

I hunted first 5 days with my compound (this is a transition year for me). I'm going with recurve and Bullhead broadheads in the morning.

Still no turkey, work has been getting in the way. I really dislike these addictions. Roof over your head , food on the table, clothes for the kids.......

Jim, you don't need all those frills in life. Food on the table is when you kill a turkey, Kids have too many clothes already, you already got a roof...GO hunting

Monday opener I missed on a bearded hen with my recurve shooting from a natural ground blind, I think the fletching touched the chest.
My goal is to take a turkey, elk, and a deer in the same year with the recurve.
Oh yeah, also the lottery would be nice to win.
