If you catch one in NY your supposed to cut their head off to make sure their dead.

Great job shooting one!

Everyone should do their part and spread the word about them to all our fellow bowfishers and anglers.  If you catch/arrow one KILL IT!!!  Also, please report it to your respective fish and game departments so their distribution can be monitored.  These fish have the potential to become a real problem native fish populations.  We should start snakehead bowfishing tournaments.

Ron,

They are invasive. When i worked in the fish business, every shipment was checked by US fish and Wildlife to make sure we were not trying to sneak them into the country.

Very pretty, very aggressive and very adaptable.  They are toothy eating machines and can reproduce like nothing you have seen before.

They are supposed to be good eating, thats partly why we have such a problem here.
Relax,

Ken,

A mother in Law fish is completely different.  Not to much different than a Lawyer fish!   :readit:

They have a lot in common. "UGLY"   :biglaugh:

Nice pattern on that snakehead.  They are a real problem EVERYWHERE.  Extremely invasive and aggressive fish towards native species.

VA Bowbender, next time I'm at my sister's, we're gonna hook up.  She's on Skyview Court near the Courthouse.

With all the invasive fish we aint gonna have anything left but scabs to catch.

Looks like they would make it manditory that before a ship could empty bilge water it would have to be filtered or give it a strong electric shock (to kill whatever) befeore they could empty into wateres other than ther own, try something anyway.
It's a twang thang, some people git it, some people dont.

The video is not that clear, however that looks like a burbot "ling".  Very good eating. Never heard of a snakehead in MT.  However,  ling looks just like that with the flat wide head with that tailfin like that.

The Virginia Dept. of Game and Inland Fisheries has a page on the snakehead:

 http://www.dgif.virginia.gov/fishing/snakehead-faq.asp

The video, "Snakeheads in Virginia" is very informative.

Just watching the "River Monsters" show on snakeheads. A single female can have 100,000 young per year! And they fiercly defend their young leading to high survival rates. Creepy.

Sharpen your tip, you've got some work to do!
Is it September yet?!
