I need schoolin on my GameMaster
« on: April 28, 2010, 02:15:00 PM »
I'm in need of some learnin....
I've got a Hoyt GameMaster I that i purchased from a guy a couple months ago that was advertised as a 50# bow...well when I put it together it had 40# limbs.  I kept it anyways because it shoot soooooooo good!
Anyhoooooo
I bought this bow to become my backup bowfishing bow and I like shooting between 45-50#.
I was thinking of buying some ILF limbs to put on her and try my hand at converting the bushings and such.
My question is....I believe the GM riser is 21"...is this right?
if so...could I put a set of TT blackmax ILF limbs on it in "short" and still draw my 29"?
and w/ that riser lenght would it change the draw weight on the limb?
  Black Max

Even better I was thinkin of the TT ILF Longbow Limbs for the 3D coarse....
same questions?????? Does my riser length  or limb angle increase the weight marked on the limbs?

  ILF Longbow Limbs

Thanks
Mike

I actually did just that. Got a Hoyt 21" Excel riser and put some medium ILFs on it. I like all the room on the riser for the AMS Retriever and Wave arrow rest. Makes a nice set-up for cheap.

if you get a chance vermonster..post some pics of the setup. i think thats the route i'm gonna go, except i might just buy hoyt short stratix limbs. shorts will give you a 62" bow on the 21" riser correct?

lowebow- i would check the 40# limbs, like all my hoyts, im sure they are 3-5# heavier than marked.

The Hoyt GMII is my bowfishing rig of choice as well. They are sweet shooters and BOMBPROOF as well. Does anyone know if the limbs are interchangeable between the GMI,GMII and the Dorado?

V13...great looking bow!
I've noticed alot of the Hoyt shooters put the string pads on their bows...do they help quiet it that much?  I was lookin at trying a skinny/padded loop string..

These limbs had them on when I got them. Just haven't bothered taking them off. The string is an 8 strand endless Ultra Cam I made. This is one of the quietest ILF set-ups I've shot to date though.

none of my hoyts have the string pads. i will say that my gamemaster 2 50#er is louder than my hoyt dorado 50#...and the gamemaster has limbsavers, string leeches, and rubber gasket under the limbs. the dorado just has one set of string leeches, thats it!! quietest bow i have ever shot. and the gamemaster is ok, well it must be decently quiet for me to have harvested deer, turkey, and hogs with it.

vermonster- love the setup. you helped me make up my mind:) what limbs are those?

One trick I tried on my GMII was to put mole skin( the Dr. schol kind) inside the limb pockets. That really worked great, I made up a 10 strand D-97 string and put one set of string leeches on it and she's whisper quiet.
