Want advise on making a kids quiver please
« on: April 28, 2010, 10:27:00 PM »
Hello all,
Looking to make 2 quivers for my boys.
8yr & 6 yr old.

I took them to a traditional 3d shoot (Whittingham Shoot, Newton, NJ) last week and they had a blast!

The vendors wanted over 45.00 for one quiver. I would have loved to buy them each one, but just couldn't right now as times are tough with the cash.

I have seen the plans on some quivers here but none are for kids.

Can anyone recommend a place to buy cheap leather or any other fabric I could build them a decent looking quiver?

Thank you in advance to all that reply.

Go to a Good Will and buy an old leather jacket. Cut off the sleeves and sew up an end on each. Cut some straps from the body and sew them to the sleeves. Voila! Easy cheap quiver.

The quiver on the right is a pants leg, a woven belt, two binder clips and an old arrow shaft as a stiffener. Used it for about ten years, now it has a hole in the end and I have more quivers.

Long, long afterward, in an oak I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.

That is a great idea! I would rather do something a little nicer for them. I will definitely get the leather that way.

Any posts with the dimensions for the kids size quivers?

Take the arrows you have for them and cut to fit.

I made one for my son from the plans Rob posted in the "how to" forum! Pretty easy and not to expensive. I wasn't worrind about the kids size, stuff something in the bottom and the arrows will fit and the quiver will fit em for a long, long time. My son told me it was the best birthday present he ever got, I felt the same, nothing like a handmade quiver!

With the lace on strap, all you'll have to do is change the length when they grow, Doms turned out awesome!
