If you appreciate a fine knife...
« on: May 03, 2010, 02:02:00 PM »
Let me start out by saying there are many good knife makers aboard Tgang. Sure don't want to hurt anyone's feelings but then again, I'm told by my best hunting buddy McMahon that I'm really good at that.........

I just got another Doug Campbell knife. I'm blown away. Now I can't pretend to know anything about the wood and the steel, etc..I do know nice work when I see it and ol Doug is an artist!

If you guys want to add a knife to your collection, best get one of these before he realizes he can get two times what he's charging now for them  8-)

As usual, I agree with Biggie on all counts here.  I saw those go up for sale the other day and kick myself for hemming and hawing.  I've bought two of Doug's Damascus capers and should really get one of his "regular" steel pieces.

That is a beauty Biggie!  I saw it when it was listed - gorgeous piece of koa!
And you're right about the prices - bound to be going up after the Atlanta show next month...

Dang Biggie, you beat me to it! I bought the other one he had up for sale and it got here. Funny...they both left Montana last week and both ended up in GA this week, to both end up skinning something at Smoking Arrows sometime this year.     :D

The piece of curly Koa on this one has to be seen to believed. It has an almost translucent 3-D effect. The fit/finish are perfect and the steel I know from experience is as good as it gets. Doug's work only continues to improve with each piece being more stunning than the last.
