Well Tom, I've shot quite a few different bows. You know the one I'm hooked on. Mahantango longbow! Yew 70" 55#@28" or my 68"47#@28" Walnut I've never been so comfortable as I am with these bows. I know your favorite is pretty darn nice too.
I will give thanks to the LORD because of his righteousness and will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.

Not an old timer, but from all the bows I had or still have, my 56" 60#@28" Robertson Gozhawk is the one I shoot the best.

I'm not a old timer but my best shooting is when I have my 60" 52* @ 28" Zona #24 T/D Recurve with full length Gold Tip Trad Hunter 35/55's w/ 5" feathers, 125gr. points or Broads & a footing of 1" 2117 to increase FOC & impact resistance.
Zona Custom Recurve: 60" 49# @ 27.5".
Sky Sky Hawk Recurve: 60" 47# @ 27.5".

I shot my best 3-D score with a Martin Dreamcatcher. I killed a ton of groundhogs with a Hummingbird recurve. But I believe I shoot my Brackenbury Quest better than anything, ever!

I would have to say my river raisin 3pc take down 60" 50@28" my first traditional harvest came with that bow. I have many longbows and recurves  but it still remains my fav.  I guess thats why i ordered a backup just like it

Best bow I`ve hunted with I don`t or did`nt own. Keith Brunner "passed" it around and let myself and Jeff Holchin shoot it for a couple of years. I`m still shooting it waiting on my New Cheetah to arrive. Its a Howard Hill Wesley Special 55@28 and 66" long.

I`ve got to add this....I`ve owned a LOT of bows short ones ,long ones recurves, fast and slower ones, pretty ones and just plain black glass "hunter" models. High dollar and bargain bows but from all that bow buying and swapping I have decided that I ENJOY shooting the straight end or mild r/d bows the most.Love them Hill Bows.RC

Tuff question.  After 45 yrs. of this stuff I've shot them all but the most accurate bow I've ever owned was my Bear Mag. Handled T.D. 70# @ 28".  That being said I've killed more critters with my Howatt Hunter 76# @ 27" than any other bow.  My current Brackenburys are pushing the accuracy limits right now with my favorite being the 74# @ 27" Old Timer Longbow.

Right now my favorite is a H'bird Kingfisher but once had a Border BD, wish I still had that one.
The essence of the hunt for me is to enter nature and observe+ return safely occasionally with the gift of a life taken.

Checkmate Falcon. Closest thing to a R/D longbow in a recurve too. Grip is like a longbow grip and limbs are narrow and smooth. Sweet bow

That's if you don't count the Brackenberry Quest that we passed around for donations a year or so ago. Now that was a really sweet bow.

Probably my old magnesium "B" riser Bear T/D recurve with 48# limbs.

As far as longbows goes, I'd have to say the 48# Shrew.

I've been through alot of bows over the years and the 2 that I shoot the best are my Talltines recurve and a newly acquired Pronghorn longbow.
Do not follow where the path may lead.  Go, instead, where there is no path and leave a trail.
