my turkey season
« on: May 03, 2010, 08:44:00 PM »
I got my first turkey with my black widow PSAX recurve, a 19# gobbler with a 9 inch beard. I was using a wood arrow with a wensel woodsman broadhead and took him at 8 yards. The next day I killed another gobbler, an 18#/9 inch beard with the same bow but used a different arrow and broadhead. It was a carbon express with a NAP hellrazor 3 blade broadhead. Both birds went less than 20 yards. I shot the second bird at 12 yards. This was my first birds since I went trad.

Yes. I do know how hard turkeys are, hunted them for years with a gun before I stared getting them; years of mistakes. Then more mistakes with bow. I guess we get get lucky sometimes if we keep at it hard enough. The biggest thing I regret is that my dad couldn't be here to share the ezcitement with me. He's been gone for a few years but its just like he's still here in the things he taught me.

Those birds went fast. Don't get much better than fried turkey breasts. We just got back home from Table Top lake near Branson, Mo. Had some great bass fishing,we don't have it that good at home. Really enjoyed your neck of the woods Bryant.
