badger pics

Hera are a couple of pics of a badger killed in South Texas a few years back.  The arrow caught him just behind his ear. My taxidermist buddy left the broadhead in the skull since it was inbedded.

Thanks fellas. He was heavily quarterd away from me when I shot him.  I actually called him in from about 50 yards away by "kissing the back of my hand".  It was the only shot I had and my arrow actually went a couple of inches left of where I was looking, catching him behind the ear He was probably 12 or 13 yards away when I shot.

I want to get a badger very badly. ever since I rode along side one on my motorcycle, I was in awe over its beautiful golden coat!!
I'd rather hold a recurve than shoot a compound

I was sitting on a perfect natural tree stand once and a fellow in old military style camo came running by making panicky crying sounds with no bow in hand and a large badger hot on his heals.  Never thought about shooting at the badger and I never saw the guy again. Maybe it ate him. I do know that one should never play with baby badgers.  Mama comes at you like a warp drive flying carpet. If it were not for the acceleration of my motorcycle I would have been damaged.  I think that they are protected in many states. Fierce and beautiful predators, one of those creatures that keeps the outdoors feeling like a wild place, where ever they exists.
