A little turkey with a little Shrew
« on: May 02, 2007, 11:04:00 AM »
I'm a big guy and normally hunt with one of my 58 or 60" Super Shrew longbows. This year I wanted to try for a turkey with my little 52"   Shrew Classic Hunter out of my Northwoods blind.

The bow I used was 51#@28" and it came through with flying colors sending a tapered Sitka Spruce   Ghost arrow with a big Simmions Tree Shark right through the goodies.

It wasn't a big bird like the big HyBrids they get down in Denny Sturgis country but it was big enough for the first kill for the little Classic.    :biglaugh:

Excellent job Ron

I have not been as blessed as you with my 54" Shrew Classic Hunter. No fault of the bow as that bow is hands down the BEST bow I have ever owned, bar none!  The first bird I spooked as I drew my bow back and he truned to run I hurried my shot and center punched a beautiful white oak tree  :) .  The second bird I used a Dog House pop up blind and we had two of us in there with a video camera and I had to short draw as there was no room to get the shot off and my shot made his 7 inch beard about a 5 inch beard   :biglaugh:  .

Jeff, by short draw do you mean 28" instead of your normal 30" draw?           :biglaugh:

Very cool Ron. Congrats.

Dang 52" that's short although still longer than a 48" Super Mag.

Way to go Ron!     Well done with the little Classic Hunter.  After all of the "hero" pics you've been in you can still strike a pose.

Yea Ron, I don't think I even made 27" but that is one of the remarkable traits of that Classic Hunter. Big ole long draw fellows like us can shoot that little short bow with out any of the short bow hang ups!  I truly believe you hit the ball outa the park with this bow!
