Iowa shooters
« on: May 12, 2010, 10:49:00 PM »
I am very lonely up here in Central City, Iowa and am wondering how many of you live around here.  I have a budy that shoots trad, but he lives in Dubuque and we shoot just a few times a year.  Anyone ever want to get together there is a great place in Anamosa IA that would house a fine get together.

There is a great trad shoot Memorial Weekend at Ames with the ITBS.  Great shoot, camping, food, and same great vendors.  Check it out!!
Another at Wapello Chiefs in Ottumwa on July 3rd and 4th.
I think the Izaak Walton in Otumwa puts on a trad shoot too, although I don't have the dates for this years shoot, have to ask Bowmac. My daugther and I shot it one year and it was a great shoot!

If you are ever down in SE Iowa, you are also always welcome to shoot with me.  I still have one turkey tag left to fill this weekend, but other than that, I am always looking for company.  Stumps beware!

I'm a long ways north of you...even north of Mason City a few miles, so Anamosa is quite a stretch for me. There are quite a few Iowans on here, but we're kind of scattered across the state.

Boy, Jefferson County (Fairfield) Traditional shoot must be a sleeper, i have lived and Bowhunted here all my life up too now and this is news to me? Have to check in on that myself. Was hoping to make the Ames shoot last two years and this year as well, but something always prevents it. This year it's paying high medical bills for Greywolfs broken leg. And having to barely survive like always. Target along the river is always open down here for guests.

Mr. Vic, I think I mixed that up.  It is the club that Court belongs to, not the one in fairfield.  I should have said the Izaak Walton league in Ottumwa, I think.  I will have to ask Bowmac (Court) if they are having that shoot again.  It was a great shoot!  Maybe he will chime in here.

Ok Lefty, yep i bet your right. Ottumwa always has one every year. Walked that course a few times and it's got a few hills. I got this from there website Tonight                                                                                          Wapello Bowmen.                                (Our Traditional Shoot will be a little different this year.  It will be for traditional only shooters on Friday, July 2nd and Saturday, July 3rd.  We will open it up to traditional and compound shooters on Sunday, July 4th.  We will post the hours when it gets closer to the dates.) And hope ole Court does chime in I need another small wool sash from him...

The Izaak Walton shoot in Ottumwa is not the same as the wapello chief bowmens shoot.  The Wapello Chief Bowmen put on a great shoot.  I have not been to the Izaak Walton shoot and believe it is only a twenty target course.

I will be out of town for the Ames shoot this year.  Will have to look into the SE Iowa shoots.  Sounds like fun!  Was just driving down HWY 34 this past weekend.
