Falling asleep to visions of my new bow....
« on: May 13, 2010, 08:53:00 PM »
Alright everyone, my wife already thinks I'm crazy but is anyone else falling asleep to visions of yourself holding your new bow?

Got an e-mail from Vince today wanting to confirm the riser wood for my new Mohawk to go with the one I had built last summer.  It is still a couple of weeks before my is started but the wait from conception to completion will be well worth it.

For this one I chose an Osage riser with a Cocobolo radius and overlays to go with Yew veneers over bamboo, what do you all think?

Anyway, is anyone else laying in bed at night picturing wood combos?  Eric.   ;)

Sounds like an awesome combo of woods. I know how you feel, I got the call from Big Jim two weeks ago that mine was in the next batch. Been going to check my mail,(P.O. Box) every chance I get.

Just got my new Lost Creek NAT yesterday in the mail. Won't be able to shoot it until Saturday because of work. I work 12.5 hour nights. Can't wait and yes I did have a hard time sleeping because I was wondering how she will shoot.

The bow sounds sweet,I love the look of osage as it ages. And cocobola gives it a nice complement and of course the yew veneer limbs!

OK Eric,
I'm ready to admit that I am one of those guys. I have fallen asleep many a night with the choice between hardrock maple or bamboo limb cores occupying my thoughts in that special nether region between awake and sleep. And the riser wood is a whole 'nother story. I am a forty something husband and father and I very much value this chance to escape into my private Idaho which might still "fill the freezer". You are not alone.

My thoughts currently consist of the  woods in my next Lost Creek. Yes, Chad really is the Man...

And yes, my wife thinks I'm crazy too, but I'm lucky enough to have one that is willing to live with that.

I haven't started that yet but I am looking forward to getting my hands on Vinces' Classic #2 68" and mid to upper 40's in draw weight.

When Vince and I talked I gave him permission to use whatever woods he felt would work best and that I liked to feel a little weight in my handle. He's got it all figured out. I can never remember the name of the wood he'll be using in the riser but it's a dark wood.

I just know it'll be a good looker and shooter.

God bless,Mudd

One word:

Yes.
The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts.

When I ordered my pronghorn a few years back it was in mind 24/7.  I would look at his website almost everyday and like you mentioned it would be in my dreams almost every night.  It should be considered somekind of torture to endure the waiting period.  I'm just glad the end result was well worth the wait.  Have fun
