Rancho Safari - Shaggie Long Coat
« on: May 15, 2010, 10:56:00 AM »
I'm looking at getting a Shaggie Long Coat. For those familiar with these Ghillies, what color pattern would you reccomend for central Illinois whitetail hunting in the fall.
I can't really make heads or tails of the Rancho Safari web site as to what patterns are available in each of the different types of jackets and there's no good examples of each pattern.  I see the long coat in "Feild Desert" but no mention of others available.  Other products mention: Jeriflage,  4 season, Fall/feild, Spring, Advantage, Mossy Oak...etc.  Then there is 100% cotton or cotton jute blend??  Looks like the 4 season might be a good option, but I'm confused as to whether the long coat comes in that. Help

I went to their web page to see if I could help you figure it out and apparently they've changed their product line on longcoats.

I suggest you call them (760-789-2094) and get it straight from them. IMHO

There a whole host of other ghuillie sites on the web to look at also. I have one of there longcoats and have had it for years. The only draw back with mine is it doesn't have to be real hot out to be too hot to wear.

God bless,Mudd

Check ghilliesuits dot com.

They have a great selection.  I bought a bunch of synthetic material from them and have made hats for hunting sagebrush, dark timber, and open country.

Good luck.
Give me a bow a topo and two weeks, and I guarantee I kill two weeks!

I love mine! But I'm still not as successful at it as John3. Appartently I have to sit still while wearing it  :knothead:     :D
I have the 4 seasons camo.

Frassettor and BMN, are you using the long coat as well like John3?  Is it the 100% cotton or cotton Jute blend?

I've used one for years but have no idea what you'd call the "pattern".  It looks like a cotton jute blend with little strips of Realtree(??) here and there.

The 4 Season in the Jute burlap is the way to go in my opinion... Nothing but positive experience for me. Learn from the mistakes.

Richard do not give up on from the ground... Great pic by the way.

Sitting still in the right set up you will get deer killed from the ground.  One day this season everything will work out...

Let me add to consistently get deer killed from the ground remember to set up so the deer walk PAST you before you try to draw (in slow motion) and get them killed..

Your Ghillie works perfectly if your rock still until they get past you.  The deer are focused forward. You move in slow motion and do it right the deer are in trouble everytime...

Good bowhunting..!

Thanks John, I think a 4-season long coat is where I'm leaning.
