sherwood shafts....awesome!
« on: May 16, 2010, 10:16:00 PM »
I tell ya, my first time dealing with these Douglas fir shafts and I'm impressed. I grabbed 3 arrows, checked the fro straightness, perfect! So I move on and make them up, seal them up using the eco-dipper, glue on the nocks and tips, fletch em and put em on the scale.....at 30", 3 arrows came in at 548 and the other was 550! That's pretty amazing to me, a wood arrow coming in pretty damn close in weight! I'm sold!

Love my surewoods! Only had 4 out of 24 that need straitened. Really show of the wood grain when stained too.
There my new shaft for sure!

I've used them amongst others and they definitely rate among the top of the list.
I don't mind straightening old shafts from time to time, but new ones should come straight and the Surewoods that I've gotten have been as good if not better than others.
I do use some barrell tapered shafts from a secret supplier that are my favorite.
I'm not going to advertise for him because I need more and he's darn near out.
I'll let you all know after my next payday.

Fred, you better buy all he has in your spine, cause one day they will be gone.

BHF,
Nice looking arrows. Remember, don't shoot at the same target from different angles.

Joe,
Glad to see that the shafts worked out for you.

Here's a set that I just made up, they are listed on my website.

I just got a doz. shafts yesterday from Surewood website. Service was fast, shafts are really great. Nice and straight right out of the box. Has anyone bought the bulk package? I am wondering how much different these are than the premiumns sold by the doz.I can sort by spine and weight but with cedars you can get some that vary 100 grains.

I bought 100 of the 23/64" 55-60 spine shafts and they are the best wood shafts I've ever had. I just spined and weighed them into matching groups and they make great arrows.   Bob

Canadabowyer, What kind of spine and grain variances did you have with the 100 shafts that you bought?
