Sealskin and contact cement
«
on:
May 20, 2010, 04:26:00 PM »
I want to put a sealskin rest and strike plate on my longbow but I don't want to use 2 sided tape if I can get away with it. Would contact cement be a reasonable alternative. Would it damage the finish on the bow (fullerplast) and how difficult would it be to remove when the time came to replace the rest?
Thanks for any help.

Yep, contact cement is perfect and it will not harm the finish. Real easy to remove and replace. that is what I use.

I use Barge cement for gluing anything leather to my bows,it holds good and can be rubbed off without harm to the finish.

Barge is the stuff. You can get it at any hardware store. Tube will last a while.
