Well here's the new ACS -
« on: May 21, 2010, 02:39:00 PM »
SHe's a bute RC handle,,,can't remember the woods but here's some pics

Layton said this was the first arrows out of her...she need some heavier arrows to quiet her down but we will get her done up right.

close up of the riser

Full pic

Chrono - 29.5" with a 500 grain arrow I think

So I can't wait till I get back to Montana to see her myself.

Layton said he would ship it to my newest destination when I figure out what it is.

PLEASE LEAVE THIS POST UP...Thanks in advance

Not sure what happened....no reason for us to pull your thread about a bow showing pics.

Don't know if this is what happened or not but i have on occasion spent a half hour or better typing a "New Topic"  with my lousey two finger typing, then another 15 editing my lousey spelling and mistakes, only to hit the close X up in the corner (out of force of habit), instead of the Post button down below. Sometimes being in a rush, from the time it already cost me, I wouldn't even notice that it closed, instead of displaying the post. So - I'd go on to something else, and then later be looking for the post I had (inadvertently - NOT) posted.           Took me a "little" while to figger out that little "trick" of my own -      :D     I finally tumbled to it by doing the same mistake with e-mails - but being saved from loosing it because that program would ask me if i wanted to save changes to the msg  "Huh?"     :saywhat:     Oh, yeah!    :banghead:

That's a beauty!  Too bad you don't know the woods...might have to put it on my short list of "must have" bows.

Color looks like it might be Bubinga? Although it appears to have more grain than most Bubinga. Experts welcome.    ;)

Jerry

Thank you for reposting.

Previous posts conerning the new short ACS also commented on the noise level, however attributed it to shooting too low of an arrow weight.

I would not be suprised that the noise level would have been quite noticeable when you are shooting <8.2 gpp. It will be interesting to hear your feedback once you set-up the bow and have given it a few test runs.

Looks like cocobolo to me. The grain and color is very similar to that on my Orion, and I know that is cocobolo and myrtle. Sweet looking bow though. I like the short risered bows.

Give us a report once you get your hands on her, Jerry.

Just for fun..My guess is that the wood is cocobola. Cocobola would be a great choice since it has highest wt per cubic ft. in comparison to other wood choices offerd, thus adding a slight advantage for stabilty. Note: both Cocobla & Mecassar ebony are 68 #'s per cu ft.

I will contact Larry to see what I ordered...been a crazy ride for the last month with the impending move to Costa Rica and the bike trip.....kind of a whirl wind....

SHE IS 60# at 28" - needs a 640 grain arrow like my ads to tame her though I think

I will update it soon.

I am finally getting around to a few comments on this bow. I am not a short bow fan, That being said this is as smooth as my 60" recurves, I pull about 29.5" so that says alot. Finger pinch did't seem to be a problem either, although being quite a bit lighter than I am used to might have some bearing on that I need to find a little stiffer heavier arrow. Mine are all way to stiff. My son's are a little light about 8 grs per lb. and a little weak spined. I did't ever like the performance I saw with a long bow until now. It put up the same speed that a 60lb. non fastflight Shafer Silvertip, with the same arrow. Pretty also.
