Will a AD Trad handle 360gr up front from a 67# recurve?
« on: May 24, 2010, 10:32:00 AM »
Hi all,

Im shopping for some new arrows for a recurve on the way. Its 67# @ 28" and I plan on swapping out the stock string for a 6 strand UltraCam skinny string. Do you think the AD Trads will handle this weight up front, or will I need to go to the Heavy Hammerhead?

Dont really want to go the Heavy Hammerhead route tho, as the arrow will end up overly heavy IMO.

Any replies welcome. Thanks!

The Trads will handle the wt. with no problem.  I would not leave them overly long.  cut them 1" over your draw length.

What are you using on the front end to get 360gr,

Trad will handle it just fine , 29" bop as Badger said would be the ticket, I have one customer that has me build that very arrow and it flies like a dart. I have to admit I had my doubts as I was building them for him but I got permission to shoot his arrows before shipping and was surprised at how well they shot

Thanks for the replies, the AD Trads are tough and Ive been really pleased with the ones Ive used before, so thats great I can use with this set up.

Burnsie im getting that weight from a 100gr brass insert, 100gr BH adapter and 160 glue-on BH.

YES! Mine are 30" with 100gr brass insert and 300 gr heads. So I am shooting 400 gr up front. They fly like darts from my 60-64# bows.
