Memorial Day Squirrel hunt
« on: May 27, 2010, 08:44:00 AM »
I think I have made a hunt on almost every opening day of Missouri's squirrel seasons since I can remember except when I was out of country serving in the US Army. Our season opens the Saturday before Memorial day.

This year I will at least be out there trying but unlike previous years, this year it will be with bow only.

I plan on getting to the woods early Sat. morning. But I don't think I'll pull out the grill  beforehand waiting to BBQ any squirrels though, because this year I will not use my rifle or shotgun(Disclaimer-on opening day) or at least that's the plan unless I get really hungry for the taste of tree chicken..lol

I WILL have an alternate menu in mind...lol

I wanted to make this post for another reason that's not archery related.

Please!!!! Remember our veterans... more the ones that didn't make it back or who still suffer the results of war.

I'm not bragging or complaining but I can tell you from 1st hand experience if you've ever been in one(a war) then you will always suffer from it whether it shows to others or not. Not all of the wounds of war are visible to eye.

God bless,Mudd

PS: from one vet to another.. "Thank you!" For those who have gone on before us... I remember you thankfully.

Momerial Day is a day to remember the Vets that gave up their tomorrows so that we could have ours.

God Bless them and pray for the one that continue to offer all they have.

Have fun, Mudd, and thanks for your service.  Memorial Day is a time to reflect on the heroes who've served our country buying and protecting our much enjoyed freedoms with their blood.  God bless all veterans who paid the price, and all those who were willing to.

i would like to thank the taxpayers for buying me some really neat stuff to use when I was in the 'Green Machine'.  Most 19 and 20 year olds (or anybody else, for that matter) don't get a chance to do the things you do in the Army, and it is truly a life changing experience. What you experience in a combat zone stays with you forever, both the good and bad. I was fortunate to come home with  all parts still intact; many made much bigger sacrifices than me. Remember those that gave the ultimate sacrifice to protect your freedom, and maybe shoot a memorial arrow in their honor. And pray for those who stand in harm's way this very moment to keep you safe in your homes.

Mudd, I hate to be the one, but they pulled one over on you. Squirrel season opened last Sat. May 22 this year. So get out there and play catch up.

What????? BRB...... Dang it!! grabbed a copy of the Hunting regs.. and.. you're right!

Now I see why we get a chance to vote for you as one of our leaders in the UBM Dan.

Thank you! I usually read through the Missouri Conservationist each month and check inside the last page and refresh my memory on what's in, what's not, and what's coming up. I must have missed doing that this month.

Lately when I mail something out to folks out of state I have started putting in a copy of the Conservationist because I'm proud of what we are doing here in the great state of Missouri.

I remember having trouble putting my hands on an old issue and just grabbed what was on the table and stuck it in the package.  Looks like another ignorant move on my part..lol But as pappy always said.. "There ain't no point in being ignorant if you don't show it!" Go figure?  hahaha!

I better catch a cool morning and get after them.

Thanks again Dan!!

God bless,Mudd

PS You just won a vote!.. for real!
