Narrowing down arrow size with Stu
« on: May 29, 2010, 01:45:00 AM »
So I've been playing with Stu's Calculator.
With my 54# bow (dynamic spine 70.3) and 28" draw, I want 30-31" arrows, just in case my draw stretches a bit more. I also have 145 gr. broadheads that I want to use. My arrow rest is adjustable, it's set to - 1/8".

Anyway, I found that for 30-31" arrows and 145 grain points, I should use about a 400 spine arrow such as: 5575, CE Heritage 250, 2117. The CE 150/3555/2018 are too weak at 30-31" unless I move my rest fairly far left. The CE 350/7595 have to have at least 200 gr. up front, and my rest would be moved max right.

So it sounds like my best bet at this point is to stick with about 400 spine. Does this sound about right?

Sounds about right.  You might try to front load with the inserts to get your overall weight up and a little more FOC.
