Well, I was really hoping to get the RFA Phoenix in before I shot a turkey this year, but our season ends Monday and when I checked UPS tracking info the heads are supposed to be here Tuesday... :(
So, I loaded up some of the 150 grain prototypes on a Wal-Mart carbon arrow and got it flying right out of a #45 Bear Kodiak Hunter Recurve. The bow is very special to me because it was my uncle's. He bought it new a loooong time ago. When my parents visited him a couple of summers ago and mentioned that I was into shooting traditional bows, he insisted that they bring it home to me as he is in his 70's and no longer hunts.
Well, this morning before church I headed out to a little honey hole that I have permission to hunt on and when the first bird walked by the blind at about 12 yards I cut loose. The shot was a little low, right through the top of the thigh. The arrow zipped right through and actually stuck in a tree behind it.
My daughter took this pic.
