58 PCH and a 30in Draw
« on: June 06, 2010, 10:58:00 AM »
Anybody out there shooting the new Widow PCH 58in that has a 30in draw.

If so can you give me some info on how the bow shoots at your draw length.

I can't give you information on a 30" draw, but I bought a 58" PCH and have a 29" draw.  It is very comfortable, and shoots fine.
Remember the shorter riser makes it equal to drawing a 60" PSA.

Joe, I had a 58" PCH and a 30" draw.  The bow handles the draw nicely.  As smooth as any of the other models.  Great bow...Mike

I have the exact setup you are asking about.  If I had my choice, I would go with a 60" if I could do it again.  My only gripe is my release.  I dropped down in poundage anticipating getting old, which has happened, however, getting off the string with the shorter bow really requires good mechanics with the lighter bow (52 @ 28) versus a 60" bow with more weight.  If I plink my release, I get a little kick right off the shelf.  A clean release and all is ok.  So, all in all, I would order a 60" if I could do it over.  LF

I have a 60" PCH and draw 30". I wouldn't want to go any shorter, like leftyfred said it may be fussy with a poor release.

The reason im asking is because i have a 62in PSA X thats my go to bow but i have been wanting a really short bow.

In my mind going with a 60in PCH wouldnt be a big enough difference between my PSA X.

I actually ordered a 58in after shooting both at the Howard Hill Shoot and i couldnt tell any difference between the 2 bows.

I just wanted some feedback from the Widow shooters before i changed my mind and went with the 60in PCH.

Personally i dont care for short bows but i do a lot of deer hunting and sometimes i have to hunt out of a blind and i just wanted a short bow to fill all my hunting needs.

I agree that the bow can be a little fussy with a poor release but so can my 62in PSA X so i figure if i can do my part the bow should perform good enough to hunt with.

Thanks for all the feedback guys.

Black Widow was at the Howard Hill shoot this past weekend and you could have shot all there new PCH bows! Were you there?

The simple fact is that the longer the bow, the less string on your fingers, the better the release.  Lenght of riser or limbs can't get away from that fact.

Yea i was at the shoot i was just wanting to hear from some of you guys who actually shoot a 58in PCH.

I did shoot both bows but you know how it is, sometimes you just need a little push before you go all the way.

I too have always wanted to shoot a shorter bow. Like you I draw 30". Have spent a ton of money on short bows, for me they don't work. I will say that they may draw smooth to 30" but are lacking in the accuracy department.

I can easily shoot my 62" recurves out of my Double Bull Recurve blind, so my 60" PCH is a cinch. I am enjoying superb accuracy with the PCH.

Joe,

I recently traded a Griffin Bowbolt for a 58" PCHIII, 50@29. I draw 30" so it's around 52/53@30. The bow shoots great. My first two Widow's, a 62" MA and a 60" SA, that I bought new in 1996 and 1997 have the same length working limb. Still have them and I'll never sell them. I've been through a ton of Widow's since then but I still have the first two. Love the PCH with my 30" draw but I have to work a little to get it quiet. Plan on trying Terry's "Bow Hush" to see if that tame's it a little. Personally for me having shot the PCH's in Kalamazoo, I think anything longer than the 58" is too long for me. The reason for going with a PCH is to get a shorter bow. Here's a pic of the limbs from my 62" MA, 60" SA and 58" PCH, same length. My opinion is 60" is too long for a PCH if you're hunting out of tree's.

I love my 58" PCHX, I draw a touch over 30" and it performs very well. Test drive one to be sure of what you want. Everyone is different with different likes!!!

Guys although i ordered a 58in PCH at the Howard Hill Shoot i got  Roger to send me a 58in to shoot for a couple of days so i should be able to figure out exactly what i want.

Thanks for all your replies i really do appreciate your input.

Did you get the 58" to shoot or are you still waiting on it?  Make sure to post up what you think.  I draw a little over 29" and have the same question.  I plan to shoot a 58" and 60" at Compton again along with all three grips to figure it out for sure.
