Need Woodsmen hog kill pics...
« on: June 06, 2010, 10:03:00 PM »
Wanna try my hand at some Hogs but the fella who runs the operation is not confident about me using a longbow. Says maybe 1 in four hogs hit with arrows are recovered. I asked him a few questions and it seems most of his experience is with folks using expandables and other gimmicky heads. Do any of you have any pics of wound channels created by Woodsmens (head I will be using) on hogs that I can print off and show him? It might bring him around to letting me chase some ham with my longbow.

Longbow or Recurve both can do the job.
These two were snufferized same night. My brother on the right built both of the bows in the picture.

90# pig shot with:

56" longbow 55# at 29"
650 grain arrow tipped with a Woodsman

Quartering away shot at seven yards. Entered behind the right shoulder and exited low behind the left front leg. Took out one lung and severed an artery off the heart. He lasted less than 10 seconds.

This is not a hog but it was shot with a Razorcap (similar to Woodsman) and it only took 3 steps before going down.

Here's another eland killed with a Woodsman.

Terry, we didn't weigh them, but they say a mature bull will weigh 2000#

You might want to look for another place to hunt pigs if the guy doesn't like bowhunters.
