A couple Leon Stewart Bows (photos)
« on: June 08, 2010, 08:10:00 PM »
On the valued recommendation of a few of my traditional bowhunting buddies who own a Leon Stewart bow, a short while back I took a trip to visit Leon Stewart at his shop in eastern PA. As a visitor to his shop I found Mr. Stewart to be just as gracious and helpful in person as he comes across over the phone. Before I left his shop that day I ended up placing an order for two of his LS Slammer Longbows; One for me, and one as a surprise gift for my wife. For anyone considering a LS bow I can tell you that it was an absolute pleasure doing business with the man and we are just thrilled with our new bows. Here are the particulars.

My bow (on left and top in photos): 66” Slammer Longbow, 52#s at 28”; the riser is osage and bocote; the limb cores are bamboo and carbon; the belly and face are osage. The handle is wrapped in brown buckskin leather. Satin finish.

My wife’s bow (on right and bottom in photos): 60” Slammer Longbow, 34#s at 24”; the riser is osage and cocobolo with birds eye maple fadeouts. The belly is pacific yew and the face is african tulip wood. Handle is wrapped in brown buckskin leather. Satin finish.

Leon makes perhaps the most "gracefull" looking R/D longbow on the market.   Not exactly sure what it is, but the lines on his Slammer is just spot on in every way.

Someday Im going to own one.

Sorry guys (and moderator), the first photobucket image that I copied appears to be stuck on my "copy" palette. My intent was to depict a few different views.

I love that Osage. Might be looking to get me one of Leon's longbows here in the near future.

Nice looking bows!   Leon had some nice looking osage/bacote bow combos at the Baltimore Bowmen's Traditional Classic this year... It was all the wife and I could do to resist the temptation!

If the looks sell you on a Slammer wait until you shoot one. You won't be content until you own one.

I am really liking the looks of your wife's bow, but you didn't tell me a THING about it! I bought my second Slammer at Baltimore this year, and had the first one spruced up. Gave it to Mockingbird as a 27th anniversary present.

When I brought the second one home, I found that it was of the same specs as the first one. A bow so nice I bought it twice!   :archer:    :archer:
It will be fun shooting the courses at Baltimore with our his and hers Slammers!

And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.

It is good to see Leon getting some recognition for his craftsmanship...bowyer extrordinaire...and wait till you shoot one of his Slammers or R/D longbows...you wont put the bow down!      :jumper:

There could never be enough good words spoken about Leon or his bows!  Both are "Top of the Line" in every way!
