My first D Shape Longbow
« on: June 09, 2010, 11:11:00 PM »
Dick from Seattle and I worked a trade for one of his D shape longbows for one of my rasp knives in the design of his choosing.  He brought her to me at the Western State Rondevous A couple weeks ago.  After shooting the bow I am loving shooting it and plan to hunt deer with it this year.  She is 66 inches long, 45 @ 28, black glass over lamboo veneers with a middle yew veneer and a zebrawood riser.

Your right Mudd no prying allowed.  My bows are like my firearms.  They come into my grasp and never leave.  This one means a lot to me.  A buddy and fellow trad ganger built it specifically for me.  It will be with me for the long run.

Nice bow Clay!

I have heard about Dick's work, but have yet to experience it first hand - yet.

Enjoy!

What a cool trade.  Did you take any pictures of the knife?  It would be nice to see the other side of the equation as well.   :D

Gingivitis Kahn,

I am working on the knife and will post it when I get it done.  It will be a 4 inch blade with a drop point.

Gee, guys...    I don't understand.   I just go down to the shop and stir things around, then pour glue on the result to immortalize whatever mistakes I made.   What's the excitement?  8^)

Seriously, thanks a lot for the nice comments.  I keep looking over my shoulder and saying, "Who, me?"

I came back from the WSTR pretty sick and laid low for a couple of weeks, but got back in the shop for a full day yesterday.   New yew and bamboo with mesquite riser should go in the oven before the end of the week.

Oh,yeah...  you can bet everyone will hear about Clay's knife when I get it!
