New "Mohawk Classic"
« on: June 10, 2010, 11:50:00 PM »
I've heard a lot of good things about Vince's Mohawk bows. In January I called Vince and told him that I liked his bow design and asked him if he would make me a bow with a Hill dished grip,Myrtle riser, black glass on the back and white glass on the belly. I told Vince that I wanted something very Classic looking. Then the Mohawk Classic was born.

The finish is superb! It's smooth and quiet.
Vince makes a great product.

Man that is sweet looking! I want one of those. Is Vince going to make this model from now on?

Congrats on a fine looking bow. Let us know how she shoots with that grip.      :clapper:

How cool is this? Way!

I do however have to say I'm kind of sad..lol

I know how to count.. at least I can count to ten as I have that many fingers. I know Rob showed us pictures of Vinces #1 Classic.

I jumped in at that point and called Vince and ordered #2 Classic.

Maybe yours is the prototype, if not I'll have #3 darn it..lol

Nice looking bow!!!

Thanks for sharing with us.

God bless,Mudd

PS: After thinking more about it, I hope mine is #3!  I think of the number "3" as God's number. How cool will that be?... Way!! I'd say.

Wannabe1-
I've always likes the Classic Hill style grips and I like a D-shaped bow. I asked Vince if he could build the dished grip and I also wanted white glass and Myrtle wood that he didn't have at the time.

Vince ordered the white glass and I found a supplier in Oregon that had Myrtle blocks that are 4x22.

The Classis comes in black or white glass and is addition to the Mohawk with clear glass.

Mudd-

What woods did you order.

The slight dish in grip feels good against the palm under the thumb. The dish give that area of your palm a place to anchor. I like straight grips too, but I find that the straight grip pushes into your palm.

Vince called me after the grip was done and told me that he liked the way it felt also.

I'm off on Friday, going shooting in the morning with my son and two friends.

Where's Rob "The Ambassador of Mohawk Longbows"?

I sent him a private message last night when the bow came in. He must be shooting his Mohawk.

Tom and Adam - You guys are 100% correct, Vince knows how to build a bow.

In Fred Anderson's book The traditional Way, Fred mentioneds the different levels of bowyers. Vince is a Master bowyer, I like the way he makes his limb tips. Their small and perfect size, they fade into the limbs.

Looking at the Classic bow, is it build on the same form as a regular Mohawk bow?
